Dan n chickenpox

 Good morning 

Today I'm going to write the memo about the new experience of Dan's chickenpox. Meanwhile, the problem of my project. 

Having chickenpox during childhood is suitable for many reasons. First, the symptoms are mild levels such as mild fever and superficial skin damage to have minimal pain in the lesion areas.  Dan was a strong kid at that time. He had spots spread on his back then, and some blisters were seen on Thursday after school, 23/06/2022. I told him that maybe it was just a tiny wound that had been caused by playing as usual. He went to school on Friday, but after school, I found many blisters on his back and then I realised that he had got a mild fever 2 nights before. Ohhh, it is chickenpox!!! I have said to him. Regarding his general appearance during the sickness, it would say not really sick because he looked not sick. He did not have a  fever. No complaint about pain at all; just told me about itchy. He wasn't losing appetite. He had stayed at home for 5 days since the first blisters were seen until all blisters became scabs as the NHS recommendation. Today, 29/06/2022, he goes to school. At this time, I guess he would be showing difficulty going to school, but he is not. He still eagers to do so. This makes me happy this morning.

the confusion

Yesterday, I got a new thing from my supervisor about my research interview. The problem with the reflexivity is that my interview questions are not deep enough to get the richness of data being collected. I have been practising the interview with my supervisors 5 times, but the results were unsatisfactory. This disappoints me and reflects that I do not understand my research project either.

5 times of practising, but it is still similar....what does this mean? 
This is too many practices that show students' performance by misunderstanding the actual point of the study. 

I have to re-think this. The question is, what is the root cause of the problem? I discussed this with Darika, and she said that if you want to know how the depth of your data collection should be, you should go back to your literature review. If that was strongly reviewed, it told you what you need to explore more in the data collection process.   

Ok, it is time to review again.

In the meantime, after Din got diarrhoea last week, this week is Dan's turn. He has contracted chickenpox. However, my poor boy is still happy to play and eat. The sickness does not mean to him. It s my luck that I have a strong kid like him.   

I told this to my supervisors, and Moira was worried about this. she told me to move to Thailand. I firmly insist on this idea because I brought my family here for future investing. I spent a lot of money to do so. Just some barriers like physical illness would not make me give up. 

The struggling of Din

 When Din seems to have a problem with a more prolonged transition stage in the school.

This has been seen for a couple of weeks because he has been trying to be unwell with any health condition like tummy pain, leg pain and so on and so forth. I have been spending huge efforts to encourage him to go through this period.

 

I have been studying that completely changing to new English environments is a big challenge for my sons, especially Din, an introverted personality. This morning, all of us engaged in upset when Din refused to go to school by going to the toilet for 40 minutes during the going school time. I let this prolong because I thought it may occur. After all, he just felt better from diarrhoea. But, after the toilet, he said he got leg pain. I suddenly realised that he refused to go to school because it did not make sense that he got leg pain. Dan was late for school. However, I must deal with Dan first to be fair with him.

 

I took Dan to school late and talked to the school office about how to manage his case with Din. The office advised me to take Din to school. Later they will help to sort the problem out. I provide din’s background as much as possible.  It may be to help the team work in the broad view to fix the problem. It is hoped that my loved kid will get over this period soon.

English Role- playing

 3 สัปดาห์ของการไปโรงเรียนของลูก.... แม่จะถามลูกทุกวันหลังเลิกเรียนเกี่ยวกับเรื่องต่างๆที่ผ่านมาใน 1 วัน รวมถึงเรียนอะไรในวันนี้ ซึ่งแม่ก็ได้คำตอบเดิมตลอดคือ "ไม่เข้าใจที่ครูสอน"

แต่ที่แม่เห็นคือทุกๆเช้าหนุ่มน้อยมีความกระตือร้นที่จะไปโรงเรียน แม่ไม่เห็นสัญญาณของความเศร้า ความเบื่อหน่าย หรือความวิตกกังวลใดๆจากการที่ "เรียนไม่รู้เรื่อง" ของเด็กทั้งคู่ (ซึ่งต่างจากนักเรียนแก่ๆแบบแม่มาก)

แม่เองใช้ความพยายามอย่างมากที่จะช่วยเพิ่มคำศัพท์ให้ลูกโดยพยายามพูดคำที่ใช้ในชีวิตประจำวัน และใช้วิธีพูดซ้ำบ่อยๆ บางครั้งก็เซ็ทสถานการณ์แบบจำลองแล้วเพิ่มคำศัพท์ลงไป ซึ่งแม่เชื่อว่าเป็นการสอนที่ทำให้เด็กรู้สึกว่าไม่ใช่การสอน แต่มัน run on ในชีวิตจริง

นอกจากนี้แม่เองก็เปลี่ยนตัวเองเป็นนักสืบ คือไปสืบค้นหลักสูตรการเรียนการสอนของโรงเรียนมาว่าเทอมนี้จะสอนเรื่องอะไร จากนั้นแม่ก็จะชวนหนุ่มๆไปร้าน charity shops ใกล้บ้าน เพื่อไปหาซื้อหนังสือการ์ตูนราคาถูกที่มีเนื้อหาที่เกี่ยวข้องกับบทเรียนและหนังสือที่มีเนื้อหาอื่นๆที่น่าสนใจ มาอ่านก่อนนอนให้ลูกฟัง เพื่อเป็นการเกริ่นก่อนเรียน และเล่าเรื่องในภาพกว้างเพื่อให้เกิดภาพฉบับร่าง (draft) ไปก่อน รวมถึงการหยอดคำศัพท์ให้ลูกก่อนที่เขาจะไปเจอในห้องเรียน ซึ่งหวังผลว่ามันน่าจะช่วยบรรเทาอาการ "ไม่รู้เรื่อง"ของลูกได้บ้าง

.... วันนี้เป็นวันแรกของสัปดาห์ที่ 4 ในการไปโรงเรียนของเด็กๆ ...เช่นเดิม คำตอบที่แม่ได้รับคือ "ไม่รู้ว่าครูพูดอะไร"

แต่ตอนเย็นวันนี้ แม่ตื่นเต้นสุดๆเมื่อเห็นการเล่นระหว่างพี่น้องเริ่มเปลี่ยนไป คือ ....พวกเขาพยายามใช้ภาษาอังกฤษในการเล่นบทบาทสมมุติ ลักษณะการเล่นยังคงรักษาหัวใจของการเล่น คือ"ความสนุก" โดยเน้นที่ actions ผ่านภาษาไทยปนอังกฤษ ถึงแม้จะมาแบบผิดๆถูกๆ และปริมาณคำไม่มากนัก แต่ก็เป็นสัญญาณที่ดีมิใช่หรือ? (จากการเฝ้าสังเกตุพฤติกรรมและการจดบันทึกของแม่เรื่องวิธีการเรียนภาษาอังกฤษของเด็กที่ไม่รู้ภาษาอังกฤษมาก่อน และ timing ในการเปลี่ยนแปลงพฤติกรรมการใช้ภาษา)

....นี่เป็นการเรียนรู้ในแบบของเด็ก....

จากแม่

พี่ดินเป็นขี้กลาก

ถึงแม้ว่าจะเป็นช่วงฤดูร้อน แต่อากาศก็ผันผวนมากซึ่งส่วนมากเราก็จะเจอระหว่างฝนกับมืดครึ้ม เราแทบจะไม่เห็นวันที่มีแดดตลอดเวลาเลย นี่เป็นทีมาของการเขียน โพสต์นี้

       เราจะกล่าวถึงพี่ดิน ซึ่งปกติก็จะเป็นคนที่ขี้เกียจอาบน้ำมากอยู่แล้ว การมาอยู่ที่นี่พี่ก็ถือโอกาศไม่อาบเลย ช่วงสัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมา แม่ยุ่งมาก จึงยกหน้าที่การดูแลลูกให้กับพ่อไป ไม่รู้ดูแลกันอย่างไร 4 วันแล้วที่แม่ยังเห็นลูกชายใส่ชุดเดิม (แม่เข้าบ้าน 22.30 น. ซึ่งลูกนอนหลับไปแล้ว) วันนี้เป็นวันที่ 5 เช้ามาเริ่มเห็นตุ่มขึ้นที่หน้า 1 ตุ่ม แล้วแม่บอกว่า หน้าเริ่มสกปรกแล้ว จึงไล่ไปล้างหน้าให้สะอาด....แล้วทั้งวันต่างคนก็แยกย้ายไปทำหน้าที่ของตนเอง 

แต่เมื่อคืน พอแม่มุดเข้าที่นอน พี่ดินก็ขอให้แม่เกาหลังให้ทันที ...แม่เองก็แปลกใจที่ลูกยังไม่หลับ แล้วก็ต้องตกใจเมื่อใช้มือลูบไปที่แผ่นหลังลูกแล้วพบว่ามีตุ่มเล็กๆ หัวเเข็งๆกระจายเต็มแผ่นหลังไปหมด ลุกขึนเปิดไป เห็นรอยเกาจาผิวลายพร้อย มิน่าล่ะ คันจนนอนไม่หลับ แต่เนื่องจากเป็นเวลา 4 ทุ่มกว่าแล้ว แม่ทำได้เพียงใช้แป้งเด็กโรยหลังให้ แล้วลูบหลังเพื่อบรรเทาอาการคันให้พร้อมกับสอน (ครั้งที่ 300)ว่า สิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นนี้เป็นการที่ร่างกายไม่ได้รับการดูแลที่ดี ซึ่งจะทำให้เกิดการสะสมของเชื้อโรคตามผิวหนัง... ซึ่งไม่นานนักลูกก็หลับไป 

         ตื่นเช้ามา ดินลุกอาบน้ำแต่เช้า และขอให้แม่มาขัดหลังบริเวณที่ตัวเองเกาไม่ถึง ซึ่งการอาบน้ำในครั้งนี้เป็นไปด้วยความสมัครใจไม่ได้เกิดจากการบังคับขู่เข็ญเหมือนกับทุกๆครั้งที่ผ่านมา..ไม่บ่ายเบี่ยงเรื่องอากาศหนาวเลย...สิ่งนี้ทำให้แม่นึกขำแต่เช้าเลย 

นิทานเรื่องนี้ สอนให้รู้ว่า.....ช่วยคิดหน่อยค่ะ
